Gideon hesitates. She hadn't actually been expecting to be asked—she kind of thought all the ways she might make an ass of herself were pretty self-explanatory. But now that she's thinking about it—"Got suckered into trusting someone because they were beautiful and pathetic and wanted my attention, and got suckered into underestimating someone else because they weren't beautiful or pathetic and didn't want my attention enough," she summarizes. Though Harrow had been wrong about how suckered—she'd really thought Gideon's loyalties might be to Dulcinea over her, which is a level of sucker even Gideon has not yet achieved.
